Children in the media – it is a seemingly easy topic to approach for journalists, which proves to have many underwater reefs and dangers. Children and adolescents are especially vulnerable part of any society, and they require a special approach and treatment.

Armenian Media Resource Center on Child Issues aims to improve coverage of child-related problems in Armenian media and to secure protection of child rights in the work of the journalists.
Let’s join efforts in promoting good practice in the field of information to prevent misuse and misinterpretation of the information that could have hazardous consequences for those who are often helpless to defend themselves, especially children.

Child Rights to be Heard

 To  speak,  participate and decide:  Child Rights To Be Heard  Report, submitted by the Canadian Child Care Federation on the occasion of the United Nations Day of General Discussion on "The Child Right to be Heard" September 15,2006.

The main focus of this paper is the implementation of the child’s right to be heard in early learning and child care (ELCC) for the Group 2 discussion on children as active participants in society.

Report  rightfully mentions that children are the world’s most valuable resource. To ensure that they develop to their full potential and continue to thrive as engaged citizens, they need opportunities to exercise their participatory rights throughout all stages of their development.

Violence in Armenia

The survey by  UNICEF Office in Armenia  studies violence against children  and provides specific  recommendations  for  prevention of  cases of violence against children in Armenia.   

Family is considered to be the important environment, which integrates the main processes socialization. That is why family atmosphere and parental relationships are more than important for children further upbringing.

A child even at an early age should feel the existence of stable family relations. The lack of such relations may cause children extreme emotional strain, feeling of fear and fault of family conflicts. Moreover, they acquire norms of conduct and manners, which are mainly conditioned by the contact with parents. The sociological survey made it possible to figure out the main reasons of committing violence against children.
