Children in the media – it is a seemingly easy topic to approach for journalists, which proves to have many underwater reefs and dangers. Children and adolescents are especially vulnerable part of any society, and they require a special approach and treatment.

Armenian Media Resource Center on Child Issues aims to improve coverage of child-related problems in Armenian media and to secure protection of child rights in the work of the journalists.
Let’s join efforts in promoting good practice in the field of information to prevent misuse and misinterpretation of the information that could have hazardous consequences for those who are often helpless to defend themselves, especially children.

Convention on the Rights of the Child The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the first legally binding international instrument to incorporate the full range of human rightscivil, cultural, economic, political and social rights.

Declaration of the Rights of the Child 

Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography  Articles 34 and 35 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child say that governments should protect children from all forms of sexual exploitation and abuse and take all measures possible to ensure that they are not abducted, sold or trafficked.  The Convention’s Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography supplements the Convention by providing States with detailed requirements to end the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.  It also protects children from being sold for non-sexual purposes—such as other forms of forced labour, illegal adoption and organ donation.

The OSLO Challenge to governments

Child Protection: A Handbook for Parliamentarians Adopting and enforcing strong laws protecting children, overseeing government activity, allocating financial resources, raising awareness and providing advocacy are what parliamentarians can do to help alleviate children's suffering. This IPU/UNICEF co-publication serves as a catalyst for action, providing examples of parliamentarians’ responses to the challenges of child protection and addressing 10 specific protection issues.
